Why have a root canal?

Root canals are necessary when a tooth has become infected. This happens when bacteria reaches the pulp (the soft tissue found on the inside of a tooth). The bacteria can also cause painful inflammation, which can make it difficult to bite and chew and may interfere with your day-to-day activities. By getting a root canal, you can remove the inflamed and infected tissue and rebuild your tooth.

Are root canals painful?
